Autonomous Control of Uncertain Flexible Space Systems
Abstract:
A research project to investigate the effective integration of
robust control, intelligent control, on-orbit system
identification, and adaptive control as applied to flexible space
systems. The proposed approach to the control problem is to
integrate parameter insensitive controller design, internal model
principle for active disturbance rejection, self-tuning tapped-
delay filter design, and neural network learning techniques into a
unified framework.
The anticipated benefits of this project include improved
closed-loop performance, reduced re-design cycle time, and
reduced cost.
Potential commercial applications include: 1 ) spacecrafts with
flexible structures, 2) aircrafts vibration attenuation, 3)
control of large, distributed systems, 4) control of precision
machining and flexible robot mechanism. The unified design
techniques can be applied to controller design of most physical
systems with small modifications.
