New Member of the NASA Alliance for Small Business Opportunity (NASBO): Technology Tree Group

National Aeronautics and
Space Administration

Open Letter
to the
NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Contractor Community

October 28, 2005

Dear Colleagues:

Since 1982 hundreds of small businesses funded by the NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program have developed world-class technologies and new products for NASA mission programs and commercial markets. Building upon this distinguished record of technological innovation and the far-reaching potential of technologies sponsored by the NASA SBIR program, an alliance of business incubators, early-stage investors and technology commercialization organizations is emerging to work with the NASA SBIR community. This initiative – known as the NASA Alliance for Small Business Opportunity (NASBO) – is designed to assist and enable the commercialization of innovative technologies in ways that contribute to business growth, NASA mission performance and the Nation’s prosperity.

As part of the NASBO initiative, NASA entered into a non-exclusive agreement with Technology Tree Group, Inc., a development company focused on technology commercialization. The purpose of the agreement is to establish their participation in NASBO with the aim of facilitating the commercialization of innovative technologies. The agreement recognizes the NASA SBIR community as a robust source of innovative technologies and products applicable to NASA mission needs and commercial markets. In turn, Technology Tree Group is an independent, non-exclusive participant in NASBO and source of technology commercialization assistance and investment. NASA’s SBIR contractors may collaborate or enter into agreements with Technology Tree Group at their discretion. NASA’s SBIR contractors are not required to work with Technology Tree Group. NASA will not be a party to any collaborations or agreements between Technology Tree Group and NASA SBIR contractors nor warrant the services of Technology Tree Group.

Further information about Technology Tree Group is available at http://www.technology-tree.com We encourage you to explore opportunities with Technology Tree Group and we will keep you informed as NASBO continues to develop.

The NASA SBIR community serves an important role in advancing the technological innovation necessary for NASA’s mission and the Nation’s prosperity. We are committed, along with you, to fully achieving the benefits that result from the Nation’s investment in the NASA SBIR program.

Regards.
