ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Delivered diode lasers capable of operating in the mid infrared range of the spectrum which is optimal for atmospheric gas studies
  • Extended MBE-grown laser device capability to the 9.5 micron region of the spectrum
  • Laser diodes make lighter weight spectrometers possible for NASA atmospheric studies
COMMERCIALIZATION
  • Sales to JPL for the construction of atmospheric study instruments
  • Technical advances have been incorporated into manufacturing processes for other laser products at Laser Components Instrument Group
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
  • Flown on a number of NASA ER-2 aircraft and NASA balloon missions to study trace gases in the upper atmosphere
