|
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Demonstrated capillary pumping
and improved evaporator performance with micromachined structures
- New technology increased potential
conversion efficiency for AMTEC cells by 30 to 40 percent
|
COMMERCIALIZATION
- Supplying components to advanced
radioisotope power source program (ARPS) which is developing a power
source for future deep space missions
- Commercial applications include
remote site power generation, back up power sources for households,
and commercial communication satellites
|
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE
APPLICATIONS
- Efficiency gains have led to
AMTEC selection by NASA/DOE for small satellite power conversion
- AMTEC power conversion has been
selected for the solar probe mission and is under development in
the advanced radioisotope power source (ARPS) program
