  • Provide a 3-4 times weight and volume savings compared to state-of-art Ni-Cd/Ni-H2 batteries
  • Demonstrated more than 300 cycles with prototype 5 amp-hr cells
COMMERCIALIZATION
  • Military and commercial satellites and aircraft
  • Eventual application in consumer electronics, telecommunications, computers
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
  • Won $13.6 million joint contract with NASA and U.S. Air Force for battery development for aircraft, planetary rovers and landers and satellite applications
  • Selected for the Mars 2001 Lander and powers the Mars 2003 Rovers, and is under consideration for future planetary exploration missions
