    Developed a versatile, commercially viable high performance photon counting detector for a wide variety of applications.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS 
    • A versatile, high performance photon counting detector combining recent technical advances in all aspects of microchannel plate (MCP) detector development in a low cost, commercially viable package that can support a variety of applications.
    • Imaging, high resolution (2k x 2k), photon counting detector system with sensitivity in the ultraviolet from 50Å to >3000Å, and <100ps time resolution.
COMMERCIALIZATION 
 
    • Potential commercial market in the field of high resolution real time imaging of biological samples, soft X-ray microscopy, protein crystallography, ion and electron time of flight imaging spectroscopy, high resolution UV spectroscopy.
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS 
    • Awarded programs totaling more than $2 million for development of microchannel plate detectors used in TIMED, IMAGE, ROSETTA mission instruments & multiple sounding rockets, GSFC, MSFC, national facilities at NRL, SANDIA Labs.
    • Proposed for use in SMEX instruments, IMAGER satellite, and sounding rockets.
