INNOVATION
Thermal management material system with five
times the conductivity and two thirds the weight of aluminum
|
kCore (Carbon Fiber Composite Encapsulated SPG) Radiator
|
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- kTC has developed a family of high performance thermal
management products named k-Core for airborne and spaceborn systems
- k-Core, which is encapsulated annealed pyrolytic
graphite, has up to five times the conductance of baseline systems
- Mass density of this material is 30% lower than aluminum
- The k-Core material system can be designed
to match the thermal expansion coefficient of mating systems
- kTC is exclusive holder of US Patent
#5,296,310 and the IP counterparts covering the encapsulation of pyrolytic
graphite for thermal applications
|
COMMERCIALIZATION
- k-Core product sales support 20 full
time employees and 20% annual sales growth
- k-Core products are used by all
major aerospace companies for proto-flight and production programs
|
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE
APPLICATIONS
- k-Core products are
in service on a variety of DoD platforms, including the F-16, F-22,
F-35, and E2C
- k-Core products are
in service on the International Space Station, commercial satellites,
and airborne systems
- Current development programs
include: NASA's National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System
(NPOESS) include k-Core designs and DOE applications
