Optional Powerpoint file
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
    • Demonstrated stable operation of a wave bearing to temperature of 674°F (357°C), to loads of 825 lbs (3,670N) and to speeds of 30K RPM
    • Validated an existing performance prediction code with precise experimental data from a wave bearing test rig
    • Modified a NASA owned wave oil bearing test rig so that the shaft is now supported by two wave bearings
COMMERCIALIZATION
    • NASTEC is actively seeking wave bearing technology business; web site is available - http://www.nastecinc.com
    • The manufacturer of the high temperature liquid lubricant, DuPont, is actively assisting in the promotion of the wave bearing technology to the USAF, to other engine manufacturers and to a ground power generation company
    • Discussions for application of high temperature wave bearing technology to high T4 propulsion systems have been held with GE, Williams International and Rolls Royce
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
    • The NASA Ultra-Efficient Engine Technology Program is applying this wave bearing technology for use in further developing a geared turbofan
    • A wave bearing has been proposed to the New Generation Launch Technology Program
