INNOVATION
Developed AvDemand, a future NAS flight demand generation tool, to provide the following functions:
- Enable inputs from a variety of existing flight data such as ETMS and ASDI
- Provide the user with extensive options (e.g., time-shifting flights, up-gauging to larger aircraft, using secondary airports, and adjusting fleet mix composition) in defining the future demand data scenarios
- Consider existing NAS constraints, such as airport capacity limitation, when generating demand scenarios
- Incorporate trajectory models to provide accurate flight event times to better estimate traffic distribution at departure airports, arrival airports and en route airspace
- Offer demand analysis capability to visualize demand scenarios generated
- Output new flight scenarios in formats compatible with major research simulation and analysis tools (e.g. ACES, FACET, CTAS, MEM and NASPAC)

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Multiple government research organizations, such as NASA, JPDO and the FAA, have been using demand scenarios created by AvDemand for a large variety of air traffic simulation analyses since the inception of the SBIR.
- The demand analysis features (demand summary and airport time series analysis) are used to examine the demand distribution and flight composition research works conducted for NASA, JPDO and the FAA.
- After the end of Phase II SBIR, additional AvDemand features have been added to the core product via contracts from NASA and JPDO to further improve the capability of the demand generation tool.
|
COMMERCIALIZATION
- Sensis is in the progress of completing a licensing agreement with a government agency for using AvDemand as a demand scenario generator for the NAS simulation model the agency currently uses.
