ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Winner of 1999 R&D 100 Award.

  • Developed methods to cast LaRC polyimides in single sheets measuring 85” x 150”.
  • Built and tested a number of parabolic membrane collectors for various advanced government programs.
  • Developed methods to cast polyimides in continuous rolls.
COMMERCIALIZATION
  • Licensed and now produces several NASA-developed polyimides as powder, resin and rolled film.
  • Currently the only company licensed to produce both LaRC™-CP1 and LaRC™-CP2 colorless polyimides.These materials exhibit long-term storage capability, which enables SRS to produce large inventories.
  • NASA developed these materials which exhibit superior thermal stability and greater resistance to UV and VUV in a space environment.
  • Promising business opportunities include production of rolled-film material, flat panel reflectors, and a number of light weight space structures.
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
  • Flexible printed circuit substrates (currently under development)
  • Deployable space structures (Boeing, AFRL, NASA, Thiokol, and NRL)
