ACCOMPLISHMENTS
    • Development of optical fiber strain gages for high-volume, cost-    effective manufacturing and straight-forward surface attachment   to metal and composite structural materials 
    • Optical fiber strain gages offer high sensitivity and accuracy in harsh environments such as high  electromagnetic fields, high     temperatures, corrosive environments and for high strain fatigue cycling
COMMERCIALIZATION
    • Current annual worldwide market for strain gage products is $144M, with a growth rate of 8.2%
    • F&S proposes to capture a 5% share of the total strain gage  market as well as start new markets where there is currently no reliable competing technology
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
    • ARPA - smart materials and structures
    • USAF - smart metallic structures
    • Process monitoring of advanced composites
