ACCOMPLISHMENTS
    • Initial testing in vehicle: system could distinguish between moisture variations and ground roughness
    • Demonstrated potential for satellite and airborne mapping of shallow sub-surface soil conditions and  artifacts
    • Simulations have predicted that system will be very  sensitive to sub-surface objects such as anti-personnel mines
COMMERCIALIZATION
    • Multi-platform use: ground vehicle, aircraft, helicopter, satellite
    • Potential incorporation of technique in a low-cost, hand- held multi-sensor product for detecting non-metallic anti- personnel mines
    • Barringer recently received a $6.5M contract from major mining concern for new airborne exploration technology

    •

GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
    • Aircraft and satellite surveying of soil and         vegetation moisture in agricultural areas
    • Remote identification and mapping of salinity or toxic contaminants in soils
    • Detection and mapping of buried ordnance
    • Potential use in mapping of oil slicks
